Q: |
What
is encryption? |
A: |
Encryption
is any method of scrambled text or data using a key or password
rendering the text or data unreadable whereby the data can only be decrypted
to it's original state by using the key or password it was encrypted with.
This is really the answer to decryption as well. |
Q: |
What
is an encryption key? |
A: |
An
encryption key is a string of characters
(numbers, letters and symbols)
used as the reference to scramble the data contained in a text file,
or any other file whether audio, video, image or executable program.
It easiest to think of a n encryption key as a key that is used
to unlock a door. When data is encrypted using a key, the same key must
be used to decrypt that data. |

Q: |
How
do I register Onux? |
A: |
In
order to register Onux, you first need a registration Key. In order
to obtain a registration key, you must purchase the key by using the purchasing
options within Onux, or by using the ordering options on our web site. After
you have placed your order we will contact you and ask you to verify your
order by sending a reply email that includes your product serial number.
Once we have the serial number we will then send you a registration
key that will unlock your copy of Onux. When you receive the key simply click
on the "Register Now" button of the Onux initialization screen and then paste
your code into the appropriate field of the next window and click "Activate
NOW". |
Q: |
Why
is there a simple mode interface and an advanced mode interface, why not
just have one simple interface? |
A: |
The
problem we have found is that most people do want to have a simple interface,
however, there are still many people that want more control and greater access
to how they encrypt their files. Having two types of interfaces provides
functionality for most types of users and offers a greater satisfaction. |
Q: |
Is
this the last version of Onux? |
A: |
No,
Onux is going back to the drawing board for heavy redevelopment. The
current 1.5 version of Onux is the last version we are releasing for about
another year to year and a half. We may produce a patch or two along
the way, but no significant changes until version 2.0. In order to
produce a more powerful set of tools, we need to redesign some of the ways
Onux works at the core. This means there is a lot of work to be
done. |
Q: |
When
I use Simple mode, Onux works fine, but when I go into advanced mode, Onux
takes forever to load. Why is Onux hanging up? |
A: |
This
is caused by your hard drive containing too many files for Onux to handle
in a brief scan. So, Onux is scanning your hard drive in order to list
all your files and folders. You can either be patient and wait for
Onux to scan your hard drive, or clean up your hard drive so you don't have
so many files on it.
In the future we will
have this minor issue resolved. It is minor because most people don't
ever experience this problem. |
