Introduction

The password manager provides the user with a secure means of storing user names and passwords on his/her computer.  The database is secured by a user generated key that may be changed as often as the user wishes.  The entire Onux program and all related files, except for log files, are secured by the user created password.  The one password to the main interface protects your entire Onux system.  Basically, you can protect all the passwords you have for everything with one password or passphrase to the Onux program.  The database is non-transferable by this method.

Using the Password Manager

Using the password manager is quite painless since most everything about it somewhat automated.  When you open the password manager, the database directory displays all entries by name.  To view the contents of any entry, simply select an item in the directory and the contents are displayed for you.  To add a new entry to the database, follow the steps below:

1) Type in a name for your new entry in the "Enter a Name" field.

2) Type in a description for your new entry in the "Enter a Description" field.

3) Type in a password and a user name if you so chose, in the "Enter a Password" field.

4) Click the "Add Entry" button and the new item data will be saved and immediately displayed and selected in the database directory.

5) Repeat the four steps above until you have entered all the password information you desire to add.

6) Click the "Generate Key" button to create a new key. (This is a recommended step for each time you change the database)

7) Click the "Save Database" button and all your changes will be saved and encrypted using the key you generate.  If you did not generate a new key, the database will be encoded with the old key.
