Getting Started

The first time you run Onux after installation, the start-up screen will appear.  At this point you will need to obtain a registration code from CronosLogic in order to begin using Onux.

First, write down the Product Serial Number.  Next, you may either call CronosLogic or send us an Email with your name, address and Product Serial Number.  We will either give you a matching registration code over the phone, or send you one by email. It is preferred that you send us an email instead of calling because our registration codes may include special characters.  By using email, you may simply copy and paste the code we send to you, rather than trying to find characters on your keyboard. The choice is really yours though.

After receiving your code, click on the "Register Onux" button located on the start-up screen and the screen below will appear.

When this screen appears, simply enter or paste your registration code into the blank field.

Once you have entered the proper registration code, the "Activate Onux NOW!" button will be enabled. At this point, click the activation button and Onux will be registered and the entrance screen will appear.

***NOTE*** You will only be asked to perform this process one time.  Once Onux is successfully registered, the entrance screen will appear automatically.

The Entrance Interface

When the entrance screen appears you will need to enter a password to gain access to the main program.  This is a required step everytime you start Onux.  Your password protects the entire program from unwanted people using your copy of Onux.

The process of entering your password may be achieved one of two ways.  You may use the keyboard to enter your password or, our special Virtual Keyboard.  The password is entered into the field below.

The default password for Onux is "onux" minus the quotation marks.  To enter the password witht he Virtual Keyboard, simply click on the button that reads, "Use Virtual Keyboard" and the screen below will appear.

Use the Virtual Keyboard with your mouse, just as you would use your physical keyboard with your fingers. The "Shift" button will make all the letters capitalized.  The Virtual Keyboard has been designed to defeat "keylogging" viruses that hackers use to steal your keystrokes from the keyboard as you type it in.

Changing Your Password

The first action you should perform when gaining access to Onux for the first time, is changing your password.  Click on the "Main Menu" button and select "Change Onux Password" from the menu and the screen below will appear.

Simply enter a new case sensitive password up to 1024 characters long of your choice in the empty field and click "OK". You may use a phrase, favorite mathematical equation or whatever you like as long as it does not exceed 1024 characters.  It would also be a good idea to either commit this password to memory or write it down so you don't lose it.  Resetting a forgotten Onux password requires a CronosLogic representitive and is not a simple task.
