Trichess is a three player
Chess game developed by Joseph Weierheiser in 1992-1993. The game is
pure to it's name because the geometry of the game is based on a triangular
board. The nature of Trichess is true to it's roots as piece movement,
game logic and gameplay dynamics adhere to Chess. Trichess is Chess,
Chess to the third power!
Trichess - Configuration
1 (Traditional)

The above photo was taken
in 1993 and displays a handmade prototype of Trichess. This
configuration uses the traditional starting places of the chess
pieces.
Trichess Illuminated
Enigma Table with Transparent Custom Pieces - Configuration 2

The above photo displays
a hand crafted illuminated table created in 1993 by Joseph Weierheiser and
Keith Snyder. The woodwork was done by Keith Snyder and the glass top,
pieces and wiring were done by Joseph Weierheiser. The set-up of the
pieces is an advanced corner configuration and makes for a very challenging,
yet lengthy game.
IN THE NEAR
FUTURE
1) The Trichess Rulebook
will be available for purchase at the low price of US $6.00.
2) Trichess wooden boards
will be available for US $99.95.
3) Two different Trichess
wooden table designs will be available. (Prices not yet determined).
IN THE NOT SO NEAR
FUTURE
Our first goal is to
develop an online version of Trichess where humans can play against other
humans while the program simply monitors for accurate movement and records
each game. The recorded game data will be analyzed and added to
the compilation periodically. This online version of Trichess should
be a refreshing change to online Chess players everywhere that are disgusted
by the Chess cheats found in the popular online Chess forums across the internet.
Since Trichess has been under wraps for the past 10 years, there are
no computer programs to play your game for you!
After we have the data
we need to develop an intelligent computer player model, we will begin assembling
a small team of software developers to build the Trichess video game.
Sound interesting to you? Would you like to be a part of this?
Do you have software development skills?
Curious?
